One of the first things that most of us do is to read Jumia Kenya reviews before we can decide if we can proceed and buy from Jumia.

It is quite understandable; you do not want to buy products before reviewing them. When it comes to shopping on line, reviews are very important. Your decision to proceed shopping or not is pegged on this.

That is why every shopper will go reading other shoppers opinions on products. This makes it easier for them to make informed decisions.

So what exactly is a review?

A review is an evaluation of a publication, service, or company such as a movie (a movie review), video game (video game review), musical composition (music review of a composition or recording), book (book review); a piece of hardware like a car, home appliance, or computer; or an event or performance, such as a live music concert, play, musical theater show, dance show, or art exhibition. That is according to Wikipedia.

In our case, it is the review of products and services on Jumia Kenya.

I had a look the page and read some of the reviews. As expected, the reviews were all positive. You do not expect any negative review about jumia.co.ke on its own site.

Thats the only problem I see here. If you are not convinced about their reviews here, you can look at this other sites below.

Unlike the other two previous website where users write the reviews, on Kenyayote.com, the blogger compares the Jumia and other online shopping websites.

This in itself is a personal opinion, thus you are left to judge for yourself as to whether Jumia is good online shopping website or not.

Reviews are usually based on personal shopping or product use experiences, and I think the blogger on this website just does that and leaves the rest to you.

Online shopping in Kenya: Do it like a pro!

Online shopping in Kenya is becoming very popular because people are becoming very busy and have not time to for traditional shopping where you have to be physically be there to make a purchase.

Besides the penetration of mobile phones, the internet is encouraging most Kenyans most of whom are below 30 years and techno savvy to do shopping online.

It is predicated that in the near future, more and more Kenyans will making their purchases online. Just a few years ago, most Kenyans were very skeptical of the things online shopping in Kenya.

However, things have tremendously changed. The increase of online shopping websites in Kenya is a proof of the confidence Kenyans are putting in this e-commerce sites.

Websites such as Jumia and Kilimall are moving products in billions of Kenya shillings every day, a testimony that online shopping in Kenya has come of age. The number of subscribers on Jumia alone can make you go nuts. Within just three years, Jumia Kenya has be able to amass an astonishing 16 million subscribers and the numbers are still growing.

Online shopping in Kenya, how did all begin?

You may be fooled to think that online shopping is Kenya is a new concept. Nevertheless, the truth of the matter is, it has been with us for quite a long time. It is only that we are realizing the tremendous growth now.

With the advent of smartphones in Kenya and the fact that Kenyans embraced these devices, the growth of e-commerce sites has been inevitable.

Sites such as Olx, which allowed us to buy and sell online, have been with us for a long time and it is one of the oldest online shopping sites in Kenya. Slowly other sites have come up and the space for shopping sites in Kenya is becoming overcrowded.

Currently there are over 50 online shopping sites in Kenya and the list is growing still growing. Masoko owned by the telecom giant Safaricom being the latest entry.

This tells you how lucrative online shopping in Kenya is fast becoming.

The genesis of all this is the appetite for smartphones by Kenyan’s and every falling internet cost in the country.

How to shop online in Kenya like a boss

1.Buy from reputable websites

Online shopping websites in kenya 2
Jumia Kenya-One of the reputable shopping sites in Kenya

I have already said that there over 50 online shopping sites in Kenya and counting, this does not mean that all these websites are reputable.

Reputable websites tend to have a large customer base and reviews from these customers are positive in most cases.

I have written an article on Top 7 online shopping websites in Kenya, which list the best such sites in Kenya.

That said, it is important to note that most of these sites allow vendors (people like you and me who have products) to sell products on these platforms. It is easy to see which of these vendors have the highest rating. Always buy from such vendors with a high rating and most positive reviews from previous customers.

Large E-commerce websites have in the past been accused of selling sub-standard or fake products. That why you need to be on the lookout and avoid being a victim.

It is better to take your time and find as much information as possible from these websites than feel sorry later.

2. Remain Safe

Online shopping comes with its own security concern that must be looked into if you have to remain safe and not be a victim of frauds. Here are things to consider.

Always use watertight passwords.

During your registration, you will be required to generated passwords for our accounts. Most of us being lazy or wanting to create passwords that we can easily remember use our names, birth dates or even consecutive numbers. This is a mistake you should avoid, use numbers, capital letters, small letters and special characters in your password.

Avoid public computers.

The use computers in cyber cafes is quickly declining. However, you can easily access a public computer at your place of work. The problem is we tend to save passwords on our browsers. This automatically signs you into your accounts. Should some else access the same computer or is within the same network, your data may be compromised. Look at it this way, you have vital information such as credit cards and other financial records stored there. If this information gets to the wrong persons, you could be in for some nasty experience.

Use active anti-virus software.

Having an active anti-virus software on your computer is very important, more so if you are connected to public internet network. This ensures you are safe from attacks from virus, malwares and trojans. This also prevents anyone from accessing important information from your computer. To be safe, the anti-virus program should be up to date at all times.

Download genuine apps.

E-commerce platforms have mobile apps that can be downloaded from Google’s play store and Apple’s app store. This makes it easy for you to access these websites from your mobile phones. However, be wary of apps that are look alike. You information may be compromised when installing such apps. Moreover, they could be hiding viruses or malwares.

Review your method of payment.

Some e-commerce website will allow you to pay cash on delivery. This is sometimes ideal since there are no extra levies that come with mobile money wallets such as Mpesa, Airtel Money or even Tcash. Carrying lots of cash can be dangerous. You could be a target of thieves, pickpockets or robbers. I personally prefer paying by Mpesa, it is not only convenient but safe.

Avoid giving so much information.

You and me know that when creating user accounts on most online shopping websites, some information is required of you. This information is important for shipping your packages. In most cases, this information should only be limited to Name, Phone number and Shipping address. Should anyone ask for more than this, you should be very wary.

Check every mail carefully.

You will receive so many promotional emails once you register on these online sites. These are some of the basic requirements  of online shopping websites in Kenya. But not all mail is genuine. What goes to spam box leave it there, trust your mail filters.

3.Take advantage of promotions and offers

There are always promotions and offers running on shopping websites at any given time. I have noted that when one ends, another begins.

Promotions such as black Friday, back to school offers, end year promotions and many more others are very popular with shoppers. And I can tell you that you can get very good offers if you know what you are doing.

Whereas you should engage your seventh sense when deals are too sweet, note that most of these offers and promotions from reputable sites are genuine.

Therefore be on the lookout such promotions and offers, they can save you a lot of money in savings.

4. Check your spending.

You certainly will be bombarded with promotional emails from e-commerce websites once you sign up. This coupled with the fact that you will already have their app installed on your phone, may drive you to impulse shopping.

It is understandable that, sellers will want to sell everything to you; however, you should be wary of impulse shopping, since it can easily get you into debt.

Always buy what you need and not what you want.

5. Read and understand the companies shipping, return and warranty policy.

Each on of these online shopping websites has a policy page, which provides us useful information about shipping, return and warranty policy.

It should concern you to read and understand their terms and conditions. For example, what happens when you get a defective electronics? Within what period can you return such and get a replacement or refund? What is their shipping policy, how long do you expect to get your product? Is your electronic covered by a warranty?

These are simple but extremely important questions you need to have answers to before committing yourself to online shopping in Kenya.

I have to repeat this, you really need to read and understand the companies shipping, return and warranty policies to avoid frustrations.

6.Check whether there are extra levies.

Sometimes there are extra levies that may not be obvious when shopping online. You should not take the information see on these sites as the gospel truth. Especially for companies that allow buyers to ship from overseas, unforeseen costs may be added to the price of the product you are buying.

Such levies may include but not limited to, customs fees, international shipping fees and insurance fees.

7. Remember to track your orders.

Knowing where you package is important. If you are that person that believes in making your payment on delivery, then it only makes sense that you know when your package is arriving.

This helps you plan your day on the day of delivery.

Once you receive your package, remember to keep your receipt just in case you need it to claim a warranty or as proof of purchase.

1.Sell you own products

If you are in business and are stuck on your brick and mortar business, then you need to read this story.

Jumia Kenya televisions- Top 7 questions to ask

0

I will painstakingly explore Jumia Kenya televisions so that you can have all the simple facts.

In this guide, I am going to look at several things about televisions for your reading pleasure so that you make a decisive step to owning one.

Jumia lists so many televisions on its website that it may take time to each TV set one by one. So I am going to do this, explore these pages for you and let you know how to go about this.

Questions to ask yourself when buying Jumia Kenya Televisions

Over the years, the television has changed a great deal. From the old black and white to CTR (Cathode Ray Tube) television to now ultra-thin televisions.

Keep in mind that technology changes very first hence the need to move with the current market treads. This post is going to be a bit long, so grab a cup of coffee and let us do this.

1. What brand should I buy?

I wrote a post on what to consider when buying laptops on Jumia, and in that post I emphasized that, I go for brand more than anything else.

I have not changed a bit even on this.

It might be different for your case but for me, brand is everything. I am not here to convince you to buy a particular brand. The choice remains yours.

However, it would just fine to explore what is on offer on Jumia.

I fired up Jumia and I discovered that there are so many brands to choose from. Here the brands I managed to pull out.

  • Samsung
  • LG
  • TCL(The Creative Life)
  • Sony
  • Skyworth
  • Hisense
  • Syinix
  • Vitron
  • Armco
  • Von Hotpoint
  • Vision Plus
  • Skytop
  • Taj
  • Mooka
  • Toshiba
  • Shaani
  • Star Times
  • StarX
  • Teqworld
  • Skywave
  • Hansence
  • My Leadder
  • Cytroniq
  • Mika
  • Konka
  • Bruhn
  • Sayona

I must admit that this list is long and intimidating. So where do you begin from when choosing what to take home?

If money is not an issue, then go for top brands such as Sumsung, LG, Sony and Hisense. Note that televisions from these manufactures are expensive.

You can also consider other brands that are gaining traction in Kenya such as TCL and Skyworth if you do not have much to spend.

If I were you, I would avoid anything that is generic.

2. Is it digital or analogue?

We live in a digital world and everything is going digital. This a very important aspect to consider when buying a television.

There are two types of Jumia Kenya televisions out there. We have analog and digital. Currently analog televisions are useless unless you have decoders such as those from GoTv and Star times. If you going to buy such a TV, be ready to invest in a free to air decoder or subscriber to those you pay for.

At any given time, I cannot waste money on an analog TV; current times do not allow. So  you shouldn’t waste your money too.

Go for a digital TVs, they have the advantage of coming with an inbuilt decoder. Smart TVs have the capabilities of being connected to the internet; this makes it the best option if you have the cash to splash out.

3. What screen size is ideal for me?

The most bought screen size is the 32’’ TV.  That does not mean that it is the best. Most probably, it is because it is not too small and neither is it very expensive.

I have seen on Jumia other TV screen sizes ranging from 17’’ to 85’’.

I love large screens, it give me the real life experience. For you, go for something that you will be proud of.

But hey, what is actually the ideal television size? It may not be as you think. To find the Ideal TVs size, do the following.

  •  Find the distance you are going to sit from you TV in inches.
  • Divide this by 3. The value you get is the right size of the TV for your room.

For example, let’s say you will be sitting 8 feet away from your TV. Multiply this by 12 you get 96. If you divide this by 3, you get 32.

This means that your ideal TV screen size is actually 32”.

You may also want to ask yourself, do I need a flat screen or a curved screen? Go for whatever you feel is ideal. There is so much hype about curved TVs, but honestly speaking, they ain’t that better than your typical flat TV.

4. Does it come with a sale warranty?

TVs are very delicate and like any other electronic, things can go south very fast when handled inappropriately. In this regard, warrants are very important. Check whether there is a sale warranty to cover you for at least a year.

It is common practice to not buy a TV without a sale warrant.

5. Are there offers that I can take advantage of?

Should you be considering buying any of the Jumia Kenya televisions, then be on the lookout for promotions.

Why so?

Because during such promotions, television sets can be damn cheap. This saves you from breaking the bank. Besides, with a good sum of money you can get yourself a very good television set.

Be on the lookout for offers such as the Electroshock week, TV mania, Black Friday, Flash sales and Holiday sales.

6. What is the sale price and how will it be delivered?

This is the most important factor to consider before venturing out to get yourself a TV set. With Ksh. 30000.00, you can get yourself a 32’’ smart TV from top manufactures such as Samsung, LG and Sony.

On Jumia, there are TV sets that cost anywhere from Ksh. 5000.00 to KSh. 850000.00

If you have a fat pocket, you have very good TVs at your disposal.

Being a very delicate electronic, delivery can be a tricky affair. I prefer that such items be shipped to my doorstep. It saves me the transport headache.

When committing yourself to buy, it would be advisable to have it delivered to your doorstep.

7. What Audio and TV accessories do I need?

You will need some other accessories to really enjoy your viewing experience. Home theaters, DVDs will enhance your viewing experience.

TV mounts or brackets will not only make your viewing better but also make your television safe.

Conclusion

Buying a TV set may be a very tricky venture. There are very many Jumia Kenya Televisions to buy from; this could cause you many problems.

With the several questions answered, I have helped you trim your search.

One more thing, you can also check the seller score and the buyer rating to make a final decision on what Jumia Kenya televisions to buy.

Lastly, do you have the ideal TV size in your room? Do the math and let me know if you do.

Jumia Laptops-5 things nobody told you.

0

You are already set to buy Jumia laptops. That’s good enough. We all use laptops at the office and home. Laptops are one of the must have gadgets beside phones that every student in universities must have.

Laptops have become a necessity. I therefore understand why you looking for one. Besides, If it were not for the laptop I own, you would probably not be reading this blog post.

Unlike desktops, laptops are potable thus, you can work outdoors as you travel or even on the balcony as you see the sun set.

Luckily for you, I bought the laptop am using on Jumia. You can therefore benefit from my experience.

I do a lot of shopping on Jumia and I must say that I have a lot of experience doing just that. I want to share with you some of my experiences if you are looking to buy one of those Jumia laptops.

However before I delve deeper into this, it worth noting that Jumia Kenya and Safaricom are trusted sellers of laptops in Kenya.

So if you looking to buy a laptop, you can choose one of these retailers. Personally, I prefer buying from Jumia because I can pay cash on delivery.

What we tend to look for when buying a laptop

Before we look at what you need to know before buying a laptop, it is important for us to explore what you should be looking for before buying. These are the basic considerations that you must pay attention to before hitting the buy button.

You should not wake up one morning and rush to buy a laptop. Buying one is a serious venture that you need to take time and do a lot of research.

Do not make hasty decisions. You may come to regret them later.

Let us have a look.

1.Size

Laptops come is different screen sizes. We have 11.6’’ all the way to 17.1’’. Off course, there are other sizes in between such as 13.3 inches and 15.6 inches.

Other screen sizes that are not very common arethe 12.6’’ and 14’’. As you can see, there are many sizes to choose from depending on your taste.

One thing to note is that the large the screen, the heavier the laptop will be. You if you are looking for a portable laptop, a smaller screen may be ideal.

Personally, I prefer the 15.6’’ laptop screen size. It is not too big and not so small. Besides, it is the most common screen size.

2. CPU

The Central Processing Unit one of the key specifications of a laptop you want to look at. Think of Core i3, Core i5, Core i7. Most laptops come with the Core i5, however if you looking for performance, go for the Core i7 if your bank account allows.

If you really do not understand what this is all about, you can read this article here.

3. RAM

Random Access Memory or commonly called the RAM, is a feature you should be very interested in. Gone are days when you would want a computer to process information at a snails speed.

Mark you, we leave in the fast lane.

Most laptops come with 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of RAM.

Honestly speaking, do not go for 1GB or 2GB, unless you are buying your kids some kind of a toy. Go for at least 4GB of RAM. The large the RAM the better.

Tip: You can easily upgrade the RAM of your laptop. Therefore, you can begin at 4GB and later upgrade the RAM to what you prefer.

4. ROM

You do not have to over think about this. Most laptops if of good quality come packed with 512GB of ROM. However, some come with 128GB or 256GB. I have seen some that come with 1TB of ROM. Am yet to see one that has 2TB ROM on Jumia.

But as the rule goes, the larger, the better, however this will come at a cost.

 5. Screen Quality

Screen resolution is a spec we consider even in smartphones. You do not want to look at a boring screen for hours.

The good news is that most laptops come with a comfortable screen resolution.

A 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution full HD should serve you well.

6. Battery life

One thing that makes laptops popular is the fact that you work outdoors unlike conventional computers that are connected to the mains supply indoors.

If you want to enjoy your outdoors more, go for something that will give more battery juice.

You do not want a laptop that will die on your laps a few minutes after unplugging from the mains.

Good battery life is important.

7. USB 3.0

Most laptops come with USB 3.0 ports. Anything less than this is a no no. You want room to connect a mouse (especially is you are a poor user of the touch pad as I am), flash disks or even an external hard drive.

8. Brand

All of us love top brands and will go for them any day. HP, Toshiba, Acer, Lenovo, Asus, Apple are some of the brands you will have to make a decision on.

When I was buying my laptop, this where I began. I was looking for a top brand. All other factors came later.

9. Build Standard

Laptops come in different shapes and build. No matter what you do, you or other people will mishandle the laptop at one point.

Will it be able to withstand the falls, knocks and drops?

How liquid resistance is it? How easy is it to clean?

One of the abuse I do to my laptop is spilling a lot of coffee on the key board. I really do take lots of coffee when writing blog posts. Luckily, it has so far been able to withstand this.

These small things are often ignored but are extremely important.

10. Keyboard

Every one of us buy laptops for different purposes. In my case, I do a lot of typing. That means my laptop Keyboard ought to be comfortable.

If you are going to do a lot of typing, then, your key board should be very comfortable.

11. Price

To most of us, this what determines the kind of laptop we are going to buy. You can only buy a laptop with the best specifications we have discussed above if your bank account will allows.

Unfortunately, if you do not much to spend, your choices maybe limited.

Now that we have seen what you may need to consider when buying a laptop, let us now look at what you need to know when buying Jumia laptops.

5 things nobody told you about buying Jumia Laptops

1.Most do not come with Operating System.

Most of the laptops sold on Jumia do not come with the operating system installed. This is very fine with me because it means that I have to install the Operating system if my choice.

However, if you do not know about computers, this may come as an extra cost. For you will have to buy an operating system and install it yourself or pay someone to do it for you.

Moreover, some of the software do not come free. If you are buying a Jumia laptop that does not have an operating system, then you need set aside some money. This will cover the cost of the Operating System, software and installation.

TIP: If you are buying a laptop without an Operating System, then have your Operating System ready. Once you receive your order, you can install the operating system and required software quickly. This will help you detected any problems with your machine fast.

If it does not work as expected, you can return the laptop for replacement or refund. Be quick to read Jumia’s return and refund policy before committing yourself.

2.Some are refurbished.

I do not mean to say that refurbished laptops are not good. However when shopping for Jumia laptops, ensure that you read the vendors information carefully.

If you looking for a refurbished laptop well and good. However, if you are buying a new machine, be sure to do some research and go through the vendor’s information.

If the price is way below the expected retail price, then this could be a refurbished laptop.

3. Jumia laptops are cheaper.

A friend of mine really wanted a laptop fast. So we looked at some laptops on Jumia and after two days, we zeroed on one.

Because my friend was impatient to place his hand on one, we therefore decided to buy it in town (read Nairobi) for on Jumia it would take at least 3 days to deliver.

We moved from one end of town to another and actually got offers from many shops for the laptop we were looking for.

However, there was a problem. The cheapest we found was Ksh. 5000.00 dearer than what we saw on Jumia.

After 5 hours of fruitless searching, we ordered the laptop on Jumia.

My conclusion, Jumia laptops are cheaper.

4. You have a huge a variety of laptops to choose from.

Unlike traditional shops that often stock only one brand of laptops, on Jumia you a huge pool of laptops to choose from.

Jumia platform is a good place to compare brands, specifications and price.

Moreover,  you will find top brands such as, HP, Toshiba, Acer, Lenovo, Asus, Apple and Dell.

5. Your warrant is genuine

You and me know too well that if you buy electronics on Accra Road or River Road, that the warrant you are given is either nonexistence or fake. Laptops too are no exception.

Try going back with a defective electronic to those shops and the owners or attendants will swear that they have never set their eyes on you.

Luckily, Jumia Laptops are different. Should a defective laptop be shipped you, there are at least three ways to solve the problem.

  • Jumia has a 7-day return policy in which to return a defective laptop. Either the laptop is replaced or money refunded.
  • Jumia allows only vetted vendors to sell on its platform. This protects you from being exploited. In addition, always buy Jumia laptops from vendors with the highest seller rating.
  • Jumia often has its own 3 months warranty on most electronics. You should be able to use this in addition to the manufactures warrant.

Conclusion

Traditional ways of shopping are being shunned by many. Statistics show that most Kenyan are embracing online shopping.

However online shopping comes with its own challenges. You do not have an opportunity to look at the electronic you are buying before committing yourself. You have the first opportunity to look at it once it is shipped to you.

I do understand this fully, and as a person who often shop on line, I have compiled this guide for you.

This guide will give insights especially if you want to buy laptops on Jumia.

5 things I learned about Jumia Ultimate Black Friday

Friday 23rd November 2018 was the Jumia Ultimate Black Friday. However, the festival was not limited to Jumia alone. Several other retailers were also advertising their offers to whoever bothered to listen. I saw many such adverts on television, radio and social media. The black Friday crazy was with us here again and promises of cheaper deals were being bombarded to consumers left, right and center.

Throughout the month of November, promotions have been running to depict that this is the black month. In fact, every Friday has been a black Friday. Moreover, I have been following this keenly to see for myself what is on offer and if I could in any way benefit from all of this.

By the way, who does not want cool, genuine and original stuff almost free? Just like any other shopper, I have kept my eyes and ears open.

I have religiously followed happenings on Jumia Kenya and I have a story to tell.

What I learned about Jumia Ultimate Black Friday

1.Black Friday is really black

These deals begin in the dead of the night. What would be more black than having to wait until 23.59hrs in the dead of night to actually enjoy super deals? Even though the black has no relation to the dark of the night, but the timing makes it really black.

I have severally tried waiting until that late only to get nothing especially if am on treasure hunt mission. Sometimes I feel that I have wasted my precious time.

For your Information: There are many theories about how black Friday begun and it has nothing to do with what retailers want you to believe. Usually black Friday comes after thanksgiving. This is usually celebrated in the United States of America, Canada and some other pacific countries. This year, thanksgiving fell on 22nd November 2018, that makes the following day a black Friday.

The most acceptable theory is that black Friday begun when after the Thanksgiving Day of 1950, chaos erupted the following day after tourists and shoppers flooded the city of Philadelphia in anticipation of a football game to be played the next day.

Some accounts put the origins of Black Friday as early as the 1800s. Today retailers all the over the world sell their merchandise cheaper on this day now known as the black Friday. For Jumia they call it the Jumia Ultimate black Friday.

2. Battles are won in a matter of seconds.

Battles on Jumia can be full blown and crazy. These battles are not visible, they are fought behind computers and smartphones. It is the battle for value.

Take an example of flash sales on Jumia. They began at 9.00am. There were very good deals here I can tell you. Imagine Oppo F9 selling for Ksh. 9999.00 down from Ksh 35000.00. Or even other sweet deals such as 2Kg Maize flour selling for Ksh. 20.00 or 2Kg sugar selling for Ksh. 99.00

Now this is what happens, some 5 minutes to 9.00 am, everyone will be behind his or her computers or smartphones. The battle line are drawn. Everyone is ready to pounce. As soon as the clock hits 9.00am, everyone logs in and within seconds, all products on offer are gone! The lucky few have won the battle for value within a matter of seconds before you very own eyes!

I saw these battles during the Jumia Ultimate Black Friday.

3. You get value for money when you spend more

There is no doubt that promotions such as Jumia Ultimate Black Friday sometimes sell items at throw away prices. However, there is a catch to this.

Let me explain.

Now, let us consider the Maize flour going for Ksh. 20.00. Only one item is available per person. The item is also eligible for free shipping but to qualify for free shipping, you have to spend Ksh. 3880 more.

Here you have two options; one, you buy your Ksh. 20.00 maize flour bag and pay for shipping, which is in excess of Ksh. 300.00 depending on location or you buy more stuff to be eligible for free shipping.

Off course, the first option does not make sense.

If you are buying more stuff, this makes sense. To enjoy supper deals, you have to spend more. If you do not intend to spend more, then these deals are not for you.

4. Treasure hunts are no walks in the park

One of the most popular promotions on Jumia Ultimate Black Friday is the treasure hunts. Most of us know what they are. It you do not know let me walk you through.

On Jumia, this black Friday, there are two product you were to find, the I-phone X and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. These items are hidden in other categories not related to them. Therefore, what you have to do is go looking for them. Get them and they are yours at 99% off. Imagine buying I-phone X at Ksh.5.00 when actually it retails at over Ksh. 100000.00.

Now this is what treasure hunt is.

However, there is a problem. Finding such items during the hunt is an intimidating task. Besides how are you supposed to be online for a period of 2-3 hours continuously?

It is easier to hunt for the lion in the African jungle than hunt for these Items. I am yet find one person who has successfully done this. If you ever found one of these items, share with me your story.

5. Products listed may actually not be there!

This is my personal experience and may not be what Jumia does. Why I am I saying so?

Let me give you my experience.

I once logged into Jumia to try to buy a phone that was selling at way cheaper than the retail price. It was one of those flash sales. At two seconds to go, I am at the page that sells the phone. When the page goes live I hit the buy button and I am told that the phones are out of stock!

How can 10 pieces of the phone disappear in less than 10 milliseconds?

I leave the rest to you to judge.

Final thoughts

Jumia Ultimate black Friday offers shoppers items at very cheap prices. All of us have different shopping experiences. I have shared what I learned during the sale.

Hopefully, I will be more prepared during the next Jumia ultimate black Friday.

Jumia Kenya ultimate black Friday; 3 products to look for.

2 things you need know before buying shoes on Jumia

0

More than often, I buy shoes on Jumia for my family and me. I thought it would be nice if I shared my shopping tips with you. Shoes are among the most difficult items to shop online because you have to worry about size and quality. Remember, as they say, not all that glitters is gold. Sometimes you do not get what you see.

Thankfully, you have help at hand. In this guide, I am going to help by giving you tips that you may want to try out if are shopping for shoes on Jumia.

What you need to know before buying shoes on Jumia

  1. Research is important

You finally decided that you want to buy some shoes on Jumia. That good enough, and it is not unique to you. Everybody else is getting his or her shoes on Jumia. So why not you?

Hold your horses, not that fast. I initially wrote a blog post on how Jumia works. If you have read it, you definitely understand why you need to take your time.

There are several ways to find out which shoes you want to buy. One, you may have seen them with a friend or even you neighbor. On the other hand, you may have seen them in a shoe store in town and while browsing on Jumia you discovered that, they were much cheaper.

Whichever the method, you may have to ask you self this questions before buying.

  • Is the quality good, and is it really what am looking for?
  • What is the vendor review? Is his/her rating good? What are the reviews of other buyers for the same product?
  • What is the price? Is there any other vendor offering a better deal?

If you ask yourself these questions, you are likely to be more diligent. You will take some time to research before buying any shoes on Jumia.

Money is hard to come by; you do not want to throw it down the drain. It would be prudent to have a prototype to compare your shoes with. We live in a world where there are copies of everything. Fake products are sold as genuine products.

Even though Jumia have strict policies about vendors selling their products on their platform, you do not want to waste time and get disappointed. Jumia allows buyers to return products if they are not what they ordered for. But you do not want to waste your time doing this.

Vendors with high rating are likely to sell you original shoes. If you read the reviews of previous buyers and find that there are complains, then you would better keep off such a vendor. Go for vendors with good ratings.

One more thing, several vendors could be selling the same shoes for different prices. Naturally, you will want to go for the cheapest, as long as quality has not been compromised.

  1. Know your shoe size.

One of the most difficult thing to do when buying shoes on Jumia is finding the size of shoes that will fit you.

Moreover, as you know, our feet come with in different shapes and sizes. Some of us have broad feet, while others have standard feet. I have seen some of my friends with very narrow feet.

To find out the size of your feet, do the following;

  • Take a plain paper and a pen or pencil. You will also need a tape measure or a 30cm ruler.
  • With your bare feet, trace out your feet on the piece of paper.
  • Using a ruler measure out the length and width of your feet.
  • Compare this with a standard size conversion chart.

The diagram below helps you go through steps 1 through 3.

shoes on jumia 2

Once you have done this, compare that with the conversion chart below. You will notice that different regions have their own shoe size. Take note of that before ordering shoes on Jumia. Have a look below.

[table id=9 /]

Once you have zeroed in on a particular size, you can now order your shoes from Jumia.

Conclusion.

Every day, people like you and I are turning to Jumia to buy products from groceries, electronics to common household goods. Shoes are no exception; however, to successfully buy shoes on Jumia, you need to understand the following;

  • Find out the size of your shoes.
  • Be sure about the quality of the shoes.
  • Order from a trusted vendor.

Once you already know these, you can now get that pair of shoes you been waiting to have from Jumia.

Jumia affiliate: Learn how to easily make money on Jumia

0

Jumia affiliate marketing can make you good money if you choose the right products and understand exactly how to market them.

In this post, Tanya Mimi teaches you how to begin a blog and make money. Her blog Slacher.Com brings him thousands of dollars every month. You may never get to herlevel, but how about pocketing just a fraction of her earning by being a Jumia affiliate?

Note sure? You can also create a like Dimepiece LA and sell online. However, let’s see what affiliate marketing is.

What is affiliate marketing?

This how Wikipedia, defines affiliate marketing;

“Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.”

In other words, an affiliate is a person who promotes other peoples’ or companies’ products or services and is paid when those products and services are bought.

Let us say company X offers to pay a 4% commission on a TV, worthy Ksh.40000, if you promote this TV and it is bought, then you make Ksh. 1600. Hundreds of these TVs can be bought within a day due to your efforts.  You can see how much you can make within a single day if you are a good promoter.

How is it different from network marketing?

If you have been involved with GNLD, forever living ,Tieens or Jeunesse , then you know what network marketing is.

Here is how Wikipedia defines network marketing;

“Multi-level marketing (MLM), also called pyramid selling, network marketing, and referral marketing,[is a marketing strategy for the sale of products or services where the revenue of the MLM company is derived from a non-salaried workforce selling the company’s products/services, while the earnings of the participants are derived from a pyramid-shaped or binary compensation commission system.”

Let me make a confession, I once joined GNLD, I was lured by those stories you hear of people making a lot money. I was very optimistic that I was going to make it, so I thought. To succeed, I pumped in a lot on money to try to move through the ranks very quickly and even bought products worthy thousands of shillings.

I failed terribly.

I do not mean to say that network marketing is not good. No, that is not what I am saying. What I learned is that network marketing is not meant for everyone. If you are not wired to convince people to buy their own shoes, you likely to fail with network marketing.

To date, I still have those scars of network marketing. Network marketing was difficult for me because you try to sell to people products that they do not want and to add injury to insult, at very exorbitant prices.

That made me hate network marketing.

The beauty with affiliate marketing is I do not have to look for customers. Customers come looking for me and they get what they are looking for. That is not all; you can promote different products from different companies.

Once you have uploaded enough photos to your satisfaction, you can either;

Conclusion

I read a story of one guy from Kiambu town who made millions on Jumia in one week by taking advantage of a promotional week on to sell his products.

Promotional events such as flash sales, Electroshock week, Black Friday and holiday offers can make you a lot of money if you have the right products. If you target the right people and offer incentives, you can make a killing.

I have discovered that the most successful products to sell on Jumia are phones. Jumia sold thousands of mobile units last year than all other sellers in Kenya combined. This does not mean that other products do not sell.

Also note that you will be competing with other vendors on the same platform. Setting up a shop is not enough; you need to convince buyers to buy from you and not the next vendor who has his/her shop on Jumia.

Make sure you go through their training, this equips you to handle any challenges and unforeseen huddles you may encounter as you trade. Build your shop profile by only offering original products and fulfilling orders very fast.
