Hp Isn’t Leaving the Kenyan Market after All

0

Hp is not leaving the Kenyan market after all. This is according to an official statement from the company, days after rumors surfaced online that the company would be winding up its operations in the Kenyan market.

From the statement, which the company sheds light into the operations of the technology company in Kenya, it is going nowhere soon.

Here is that official statement:

In 2015, Hewlett Packard Company separated into two separate publicly traded companies – HP Inc. the company that manufacturers computers and printers and uses the blue logo, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) an IT Solutions and Software company. The entity in question is associated with HPE, not HP Inc.

HP is committed and passionate about the African market. We have offices in South Africa, Morocco, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tunisia. We are dedicated to making a positive impact and helping our customers and partners in the African region use breakthrough solutions and technologies to help them reinvent their organisations.

HP Inc. creates technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere. Through our product and service portfolio of personal systems, printers and 3D printing solutions, we engineer experiences that amaze.

From the statement, it is clear that the company had split into two separate companies in 2015, HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).

It is the Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) that would be leaving the country while the HP Inc. will continue to operate.

This statement clears the air on misinformation that was already in the public domain for sometime.

Karibu Taxi, An Airport Transfer Portal Launched

0

Hospitality Group East Africa has launched Karibu Taxi, an online Travel Agency in Kenya. The portal is available on the web address kaributaxi.com

The platform aims to bring all the airport transfer providers in East Africa on the same platform.

Speaking to the media during the event, Mr. Ndegwa the Commercial Director said, “No other such platform that exists in Kenya and we will be the pioneers. We definitely know that we will get competitors but we have the first-mover advantage.”

“ We are also working at integrating the system with train and bus booking platforms in Kenya”. Added M.  Njuguna.

 How Karibu Taxi Works

On kaributaxi.com, travelers who come into the country can compare the various companies offering services such as Taxi and private airport transfers in any airport within the East African region.

This would work just the way travelers compare various services on platforms such as booking.com and travelstart.com

The benefit of this service to the traveler is that they are able to get the best rates in the market, as at the click of a button, they are able to easily compare prices.

Moreover, for airport transfers, the traveler will have forehand information about the service, like who his/her handlers are and with this, can prepare well in anticipation.

The company says that its goal in creating the platform is to “create more value-added travel market places especially in areas that have been overlooked by the mainstream travel players”.

A robust system

Karibu Taxi is a robust system that has open APIs integrated into other services such as flights, booking systems, and hotels.

Moreover, the system is also integrated with AeroCRS, which is a reservation system used by various domestic and regional airlines. This in essence enables anyone booking a flight to also add the airport transfer services during the process.

With airport transfer very vital in the travel the launch of Karibu Taxi will now come in handy for travelers who after landing, will have to figure out how to leave the airport.

Shorts, TikTok’s Competitor has been Announced by YouTube

0

YouTube has today announced Shorts, an app that is very like TikTok and which is seen as its main competitor. The app is only available in India for the time being in Beta but with it being planned to other markets soon.

From what we are able to see from the Official Youtube App, Shorts, just like Tiktok has a homepage section dedicated to uploading short videos such as music, multiple videos, and other functions including the ability to change the speed of videos and a countdown for recording.

Given YouTube is the biggest video platform on earth until now, this will be a big App should the idea take off with users. The idea of creating short videos is something that many youth love and YouTube is banking on the success of TikTok to create an even bigger short video platform.

 TikTok

Tiktok remains one of the fastest-growing social media platform, taking the internet by storm and forcing governments around the world to seek its control. India, where Shorts is set to take off, banned Tiktok within its boundaries, while in the US, President Trump has asked Tiktok to sell its operations in the country, or risk being banned. The fear of its growing presence is seen security threat and being a Chinese App, most governments are concerned about it being a spy App.

With all these restrictions, TikTok faces a bleak future, as more governments seek to ban it, while more companies are launching more Apps that are direct competitors. Recently, we saw Instagram, owned by Facebook, launch Reels that is very similar to Tiktok. And to boost its presence, the App was incorporated in Instagram official App, allowing the user to see videos from users you do not follow.

Shorts Challenges

With TikTok’s presence, it will be difficult to have people onboard Shorts. For starters, most people go to YouTube to watch and not to create videos. It seems it is only creators of content on YouTube that will easily tryout Shorts and possibly sign up.

As the App is continually rolled up in other countries, we will be the first to sign up and bring you what the experience is like.
