Airtel Kenya Launches Airtel TV; How to Install the App, and Why You Shouldn’t Be Celebrating Yet

Airtel Kenya today launched its own TV app called Airtel TV that according to the company, offers a world new form of entertainment on mobile devices.

On the app, customers can enjoy a variety of entertainment content both local and international on their smartphones. These range from Movies, Drama, Documentaries, Music, and cartoons.

The launch come shortly after Telkom Kenya announced that it’s long-awaited merger with Airtel Kenya had collapsed. Moreover, this makes Airtel Kenya the first Kenyan Telco to get into the entertainment sector.

During the launch, Airtel Networks Kenya CEO Prasanta Das Sarma expressed confidence in the new service saying that he believed that the new TV service would revolutionize Live TV and video on demand. On Airtel TV, subscribers will get the best TV programs, shows, and movies free. Also available for free will be premium content from studios such as universal, Nickelodeon and BBC in Kenya without a subscription

    How to install the App

You can simply install the App from Google play store. All you need is to type in Airtel TV app, and install the first app that comes up. In fact, anyone can install the app on their smartphone.

Once the app has been installed, you will need to register to use the service. To do this, you will have to input your Airtel number. Once this is done, an OTP number will be sent to the number you imputed early. You have to use this number to complete the registration. Alternatively, the phone can automatically complete the registration once it detects the message sent.

However, you should not be celebrating yet, for you to enjoy this service, you need to be connected to Airtel network data. Any connection from other networks does not work. It seems the Airtel is providing a free service but you have to be connected to its network.
