Macharia Advertises 957 TSC Intern Positions Secondary and 1038 for Primary Schools

The Teachers service commission has advertised 957 TSC intern positions for secondary school teachers and 1038 for primary school teachers.

In an advert in the Standard Newspaper, the commission say that the internship program will be for a period of one year which is meant to equip and sustain competencies of graduates entering the teaching service in Kenya. On completion, the teacher interns will be awarded certificates.

According to the commission, qualified candidates are invited to make there application online through the commission’s website www.tsc.go.ke or go to www.teachersonline.go.ke. Deadline for the applications is 27th September 2021.

“The programme targets unemployed registered teachers to be assigned to learning institutions where their teaching experience will be enhanced through mentorship, coaching and exposure to practical teaching experience,” says the CEO of the commission in an advert that can be found on page 14 of adverts in the MyGov pullout of the Standard Newspaper.

Requirements for TSC Intern Positions

The following are the requirements of the intern teachers

  • Be a Kenya citizen
  • Must be registered by the Teachers’ Service Commission.
  • Be a holder of P1 certificate for primary teachers and a minimum diploma certificate for secondary school teachers.
  • Have original academic and professional certificates.
  • Should not have previously worked with TSC.
  • Be ready to posted to any school in Kenya
  • Must have a personal Accident Insuarance to cover for personal risks during the period of internship.

Other requirements for TSC intern positions are:

  • Have a copy of National ID or Passport.
  • Have a copy of Teacher registration certificate or print out from TSC website.
  • A copy of National Council of persons with disability card where applicable.
  • A valid copy of good conduct certificate.
  • Have TWO colored passport size photographs.
  • A copy of NHIF card.
  • A copy if KRA PIN certificate.

Remuneration

Successful teachers who will be posted at the primary level will earn a monthly stipend of Sh15,000 and those in secondary will be paid Sh20,000. However from the advert, Dr. Macharia says the, this is not a remunerative engagement and the stipend will be paid subject to statutory deductions where applicable.

Those interested should note that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and that all candidates should be on the lookout for fraudsters.

She added that any fraudulent activity in regard to this advert should be reported directly to the nearest Teachers Service Commission Office or to the Commission’s headquarters or report the incident to the nearest police station.

This development is coming at a time the commission is giving preference to teachers who have gone through internship when recruiting teachers on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile the commission has re-advertised 48 teaching posts in secondary schools on permanent and pensionable terms of service. Moreover thousands of vacancies for Principals, Deputy Principals, Senior teachers, Head Teachers and Deputy Head Teachers have also been advertised.
