Government Clarifies Rumours About KCSE Results Release

The Ministry of Education has issued a strong response to widespread claims on social media suggesting that the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results have already been released. These reports, which also falsely asserted that a particular school had emerged as the national top performer, were described by the Education Cabinet Secretary as misleading and inaccurate.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba condemned the spread of this misinformation, urging members of the public to treat such unverified claims with contempt and to disregard them. He reminded stakeholders that the official release of KCSE results is a formal process managed by the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), and that any announcement would be made transparently through authorised channels once the process is complete.

The clarification from the Ministry comes at a time when learners, parents, and teachers are eagerly awaiting the official release of the results — a significant milestone in the academic journey of nearly one million students who sat the exams late last year. The Ministry’s firm stance seeks to quell rumours and prevent confusion that could arise from premature or false online posts.

In the same statement, the Education CS also highlighted developments in the Grade 10 senior school placement process. He confirmed that the first phase of placements has been completed and joining instructions for successfully placed students are now accessible online. For learners who are not satisfied with their initial assignments, the Ministry has opened a second review window during which parents and guardians can formally request reconsideration of placements, provided they follow the established procedures.

This move reflects the government’s attempt to ensure fairness and transparency in both examination result communication and the transition process to senior secondary education. By urging the public to rely on official information and cautioning against the spread of unverified rumours, the Ministry aims to support a smooth and orderly conclusion to the academic cycle.
