Carrefour supermarket has opened another branch in Mombasa as it continues to expand its presence in the country.

This becomes the first branch in Mombasa and the ninth countrywide as it opened another branch at the City Mall space in Nyali, Mombasa.

According to the supermarket chain, “the new branch will be home to a variety of quality products to address the immediate shopping needs of customers who live, work and vacation within Mombasa and its surrounding areas.”

The store will have a home-made bakery section, a fresh fisheries section, and a butchery section as well as a deli section for meat lovers. Moreover, there will be an electronics section. In total, there will be more than 20,000 products on offer at the store.

The new branch will create 190 jobs directly while creating thousands of others indirectly, even as COVID-19 eats into the gains made in creating jobs in the country.

There will also be a dedicated Carrefour Supermarket Mombasa customer service team to assist customers in the city.

Already, there are plans to open a second branch at Shanzu Mall to meet the needs of the people in the coast region. The other eight branches are all located in Nairobi.

Carrefour will reward customers with loyalty points, which they can redeem later when they use the Carrefour Rewards App. Moreover, My Club and Gift Vouchers will be available for purchase.

Carrefour Country Manager Franck Moreau said, “This is an exciting milestone for us since we ventured into Kenya in 2016, and we are looking forward to extending our quality goods and services to our customers here on the coast. Mombasa tumewasili!”

Moreau added,”This will give them the same great experience as our customers in Nairobi and offers us a chance to win new customers in Mombasa County.”

Carrefour Kenya will also provide on-demand delivery services from its Nyali store through its partners Jumia Food and Glovo.

Just recently, we saw Naivas open its 79th branch in the country as it takes up spaces left by the now-defunct Nakumatt.

Naivas has also started taking up spaces left by Tuskys Supermarket that is currently experiencing financial woos.
