So what are the cheapest cars in Kenya you can buy? Many of my clients and friends have often asked that common question me.
The good news is that with anything below Ksh. 600K you are guaranteed to have a very good cheap car in Kenya.
To be exact, even below Ksh.500K, you can get yourself a four-wheel and this can go to as low as Ksh. 200K. However, as those who have four wheels often say, a car is necessary evil, you have to factor in other costs that you currently do not have such as the car insurance, fuel costs, the many trips you will make to the garage and depreciation. Yes, your car will lose value faster than you can imagine.
Again, deciding to buy a car is one thing, but maintaining it is another. Before you decide to spend your hard-earned money you really need to be sure that your investment will be an investment and not a liability.
So what are the cheapest cars in Kenya? Let us find out.
Cheapest Cars in Kenya for anything below Ksh. 700K
Toyota Belta
To start us off is the Toyota Belta, a common car on the Kenya roads. This car comfortably fits into the 300K-700K bracket.
It closely resembles the Toyota Vizt from the engine capacity to the horsepower, the only difference being that it is a saloon car. It is one of the cheapest car in Kenya.
Toyota Vitz
So common is the Toyota Vitz car on Kenyan roads you would think that it is assembled here. Seemingly, it is the first car that most people own before upgrading. Very similar to the Toyota Belta, its engine has a 1000cc capacity.
It is a favorite of the ladies but if you looking for your first car, who cares. With a budget of between 400K and 700K, you should be able to drive this baby.
Nissan Cube
To be honest I dint like this car, the shape just does not go down well with me. However, as the saying goes, one many food is another many poison.
The Nissan cube is a mini multi-purpose vehicle that has been around for about 12 years. It is a small car with a small engine capacity. This should comfortably fit into your small budget.
Toyota IST
I must admit that among the cars I am writing about today, I have a soft spot for the Toyota IST as the cheapest car in Kenya.
Many of the units you see on Kenya roads are imports from Japan and the United Kingdom. For fuel consumption, this will not hurt your pocket. Its engine is a 1.3-liter cylinder or 1.5-liter cylinder. One thing I like about it is its 5 doors.
However, this car is more expensive than those I have listed above and will set your bank account back for 400K and up to 1Million shillings.
Honda Fit
Finally yet importantly is the Honda Fit, which is among the best cheapest cars in Kenya. This is a procuct of Honda from Japan. It comes with 5 Seats and a fuel engine capacity of 1.2-liter to 1.5-liter.
With a budget of Ksh.600K and above, you can own this beauty that is darling of many in Kenya.
Conclusion
Honda Fit, Toyota Vitz, Toyota IST, Nissan Cube, and Toyota Belta are among the finest cheapest cars in Kenya.
If you are tight on budget and are just starting out, these are among the best in the market today. However, be careful as you search for your first car.
If possible avoid second-hand cars within and if your budget allows import it yourself or let a reputable dealer do it for you.
